Good SE coverage, even better Neutral coverage. The only types that resist Ice are Ice, Water, Fire, and Steel. Water and Steel are the only ones of those that actually matter.

Ice mons are irrelevant because every fucking water mon gets ice beam. The only way to make ice mons relevant is to make ice a better defensive typing or to remove ice beam from 99% of water mons.

Many of you seriously need to learn the difference between countering and checking. Ice cannot counter those types because, defensively, Ice cannot switch into attacks of these types due to lack of resistances. Ice can, however, check those types, given that it gets a free switch in (due to U-Turn, Volt Switch, a Pokémon fainting, etc) because it is super effective against them.

Steel doesn't have any high powered move like Gunk Shot or Sludge Wave. Poison also isn't resisted by Fire, Water or Electric types for example. Both aren't seen as coverage types aside from two mons so it doesn't even matter anyway.

There are enough trees and plants that thrive in subzero temperatures for it to matter, such as an entire class: conifers.
While it would never happen, swapping the effectiveness for a resist is a reasonable and quick way to balance three types.
