Why does USUM contain text from SM? It contains the text for the UBs postgame quest in SM. Ctrl+F and search for "Text File : 563"

Item data has always consisted of the previous game's item data with any new items tossed onto the end. It's much much easier than removing specific items not in the game and having to spread the new items into available gaps and shit.

All DS era pokemon games were built on Diamond and Pearl, much like how all Western copies of Red and Blue were actually Japanese Blue with Japanese Red and Green Pokemon data.

ORAS and XY were built off the same engine, but despite that, ORAS models didn't work in XY. USUM models are EXACTLY the same as SM ones, to the point they're backwards compatible. There was no changes to the engine whatseover, and from what we've seen in the data dumps, the game is literally just SM with bits tacked onto the end. There is NO reason it couldn't be DLC.
