Should I buy USUM? I feel really dissapointed with the lack of new content in the games, and as a Switch owner, going back to playing anything on that tiny, low res 3DS screen pisses me off. But its Pokemon, I've never skipped a Pokemon game before, and would feel like I'm missing out while everyone on /vp/ would be having fun battling and trading. Should I just wait for Pokemon Switch? Its almost guaranteed to come out soon since Pokemon is a yearly release IP now. Also, Zeraora looks cute.

If you don't like the lack of content then don't buy the games. Play other games or pick up a new hobby. Don't support laziness.
That said, if you like the thunder cat I kinda get how you feel. I really like blacephalon and love'd to soft reset for a shiny but I can't justify a $40 purchase for one Pokemon.

I think my main problem is that I don't feel comfortable playing the 3DS outside. The Switch has a very sleek, refined look and a large screen and makes you want to show it off no matter where you are. Playing the 3DS outside makes me feel like a manchild through and through. I love the series but I seriously cant stand the looks I'd get on my commute playing on what is effectively a Fisher Price product.

It's always been this way. They practically always do 2-3 releases in consecutive years and then have a gap year. It hasn't become a yearly IP any more than it has been for a long time. I would call it semi-yearly, since it just takes gap years every 3-ish games.

It always has been. They've always done near-yearly releases and only take gap years after several games in a row. This isn't new.

You can breed them, but you can't get babies that become Totems.

You see, Totem Pokemon are exposed to Necrozma's light that leaks through Ultra Wormholes. Baby Pokemon never got that exposure, so they don't change.

I'd suggest against it, but as a Switch owner I also find my Switch collecting dust because I do most of my gaming on the go.

If you stay mostly at home wait for Pokemon Switch but if you want something to take on a commute I suppose get a 3DS game.

I pirate it because what I heard from that game is not good, and I don't want to give GF my money for a product I'll end up being disappointed with.

I still can buy the game afterwards if I end up enjoying it, but there's no reason to reward them for something I'm not convinced of.
