Didn't finish SM

I got about halfway through Sun a year ago before I stopped playing due to IRL stuff. Should I get USUM right away and start playing or do I need to finish Sun first?

If you dropped Sun you're likely going to drop US. It's nearly identical until the climax of the story

There is no reason to complete Sun if you plan on getting Ultra Sun. It's basically a DP to Plat situation.

USUM has a completely different climax than SM, plus Dexio, Sina, Looker and Anabel don’t do shit in USUM, so you’ll be missing out on them as well. Also Lusamine gets redeemed in SM, but not in USUM because of the replaced climax.
