It shows all the Pokémon you can't catch in USUM. I think.
It's still early days so maybe there's something that hasn't been found yet; I'll update it if that does happen.

Is this the first generation where you can’t catch them all? I remember they managed to squeeze all 649 in GEN V thanks to the Dream World and the Radar and all 721 in GEN VI thanks to the huge dexes, here we are still missing like 150ish. That’s why they couldn’t be bothered with adding the national dex?
What I don’t understand it’s why they simply didn’t shove more pokémon through the island scan and into the ultra space, those are all post game and not in the game.

This is actually useful information you fucking asshole.
It makes completing the dex much easier because you can easily find everything you need in xy and oras and it's sorted by lines rather than nat dex number like serebii's list is.
also, not having a nat dex is legit criticism for the game, as there is simply no reason not to include when pokebank is so readily available and events exist

I made it so that I (and other people, now that I've posted it here) would know which mons I'd need to trade for or bring in from other games if I ever felt the need to use them for something in USUM. Also I like pretty charts and Serebii's layout isn't my cup of tea.

No, that's >>34195784 but it didn't matter then due to it still being the height of pokemania and gen 2 being backwards compatible. Then gen 3 happened and people got pissed because it wasn't backwards compatible so at launch gen 3 consisted only of what was catchable in RS, things like FRLG coming many months later.
It's possible with breeding, online trading, and pokebank now GF doesn't think they need to put them all in one gen, as long as servers stay up.

I discovered I think Venomoth is a cool Pokemon within the past year or so and have wanted a chance to use it and it hasn't been in the past 2 fucking generations.

The only gens where you actually CAN catch 'em all without backwards compatibility are 1, 3, and 6 (though 4 came close, all it was missing was the Regis which were event-only). Gen 5 has the most omissions.
