All right ladies and gents, today is our last day to determine the canon name of the female trainer before we all begin our playthrough.

In SM, the only conclusion we could draw is that her name was Moon. But we’ve gotten clues to the contrary since then that opens up possibilities.

1. The trainer is the same trainer from before, and since her counterpart is only ever officially referred to as Sun in the original demo, her canon name is Moon. Same trainer, same name.

2. The official Japanese figure calls her Mizuki. This is the only time an official name has appeared in any official merchandise and therefore her name is Mizuki, even internationally, since no counterpart has been confirmed.

3. In trailers, the English counterpart to Mizuki has been Selene. Despite being literally the same as Serena, her canon name in English would be Selene.

5. Some trailers depict her name as Ailey, the best name. But trailers regularly use an assortment of names that are never considered canon. This means the best name is the least likely.

So what’s it going to be? We have mere hours to decide. It’s too late for some others. Yet we must move forward and preserve the canon ourselves.
