I'm still in the third generation.
I've just bought a DS a while ago.
I will buy Pokémon Diamond Version,
what I need to know about this game before buying it ?

Diamond and Pearl are good, but SLOW. So take your time and relax, don't try to speedrun because it's going to be frustrating.
If you can, get Platinum instead. It faster and has a lot of new stuff (and you can get the three box legends).

Just buy Platinum. You'll be hard pressed to find a copy, but Platinum fixes most of the issues in DP.

If you have an android tablet or phone you can get Platinum rom. That's what I did since it's so hard to find a legit physical copy and since i wanted to try the games that came after ruby and sapphire. I'm having a great tIme so far, I'm at the 4th gym and taking my time talking to all the NPCS and catching/evolving whatever I can find. I was told Platinum fixes a lot of issues that DP had and it runs pretty flawlessly.
You can also look for Soul Silver, that one I only just started but your pokemon in the first slot follows you in the overworld and you can interact with it which is really neat. I haven't played Silver since it was current generation so every thing still feels new and refreshing.

Why not just get Platinum? It's the definitive 4th generation game

Anyway D/P was good, but it plays pretty slow and there's not a lot to do after you beat the game.

Platinum fixes all that, and then some.
