So, we all can agree that Ash-Greninja was a anime Pokemon crossover into the game for promotions. It's not really a "canon" mainline Pokemon.

My question is, what is Dusk form? Was is always going to be in the game thus making it a canon mainline Pokemon OR another anime Pokemon crossover promo?

dusk is breedable, so it's canon. ash greninja was just ashnime trahs. I hope it will be gone for good with gen8 and just a normal greninja.

A third Lycanroc form was planned since the original Sun & Moon

But Ash-Greninja was also designed by Game Freak at the request of the anime staff, so it's likely that Dusk Lycanroc exists for similar reasons
