I thought Necrozma's light was the reason why Z-Crystals/Moves existed?

A lot of the Alola forms being adaptations to new surroundings and competitive species makes more sense then Necrozma.

Regional forms are normal adaptation to their environment, breeding, and so on. That's literally explained in their dex entries, and lore.
Like the Alolan Meowth, that was bred through generations by the royal family. And the Alolan Exeggutor, that gets a lot of nutrition with the sun and water in Alola and grows up a lot. And Vulpix and Sandshrew, who adapted to the cold snow from the mountain they live on, or Cubone that evolve into Alolan Marowak to better survive against their predators in Alola.

Or, you know. Normal natural evolution.

I'm going to say it's referring to Alola Forms, Totems, AND Ultra Beasts. UBs are definitely being affected by Necrozma's Z-Power considering they have Beast Boost and the Totem Aura even in their homeworlds. And there's obviously a greater relationship between Necrozma and true UBs beyond "they're from other dimensions lol" because of that sound in all of their cries.

Nope, because a transferred Kantonian Raticate will lay Alolan Rattata eggs unless it's holding an Everstone, and a transferred Cubone will evolve into Alolan Marowak despite having 0 Alolan heritage.
