If you put a "2" after a title it more or less means that the game is a sequel to whatever the base game was. For example, if there ever released a Pokemon Red 2 / Green 2, you could reasonably assume it takes place after the original Red/Green's plot. On the other hand, if it was called "Ultra Red/Green", well then it wold be FireRed and LeafGreen.
Does that make sense?

And no, Crystal, Emerald, and BW2 are not "A whole new setting" You fucking retard, Crystal is in fact, an almost identical game to Gold and Silver! There's barely any new areas in Crystal and Emerald! You sound like you've never played any of these games before and you're just talking out of your ass!

This game changes way more than Crystal, Emerald, or Platinum did. Not BW2 level, but still way more than any of the other actual third versions.

The problem with USUM is that the original games were very story heavy. They added about the same amount of new stuff as emerald /platinum but it feels repetitive as fuck because of how much dialogue there is.
