USUM, SM is decent but has a lot of untapped potential, particularly concerning Ultra Space and the Ultra Wormholes. By having you go through them USUM explores the idea a lot more thoroughly, and the RR stuff takes it to its logical conclusion.

SM has the better main story but USUM has a lot more little events through the overworld which are way more interesting than any of the trash in either game's main story, like the gang of Ditto who impersonate all the shopkeeps in Konikoni when they're absent for whatever reason

when will Game Freak realize Pokemon story is best when it's slice of life and world building

SM, especially Lusamine's character. USUM's necrozma plot should have been post game content after Lusamine recovered, as she's way more subdued in USUM. No idea why they didn't just make this a sequel, I guess they were that lazy
