They've already spoken about how the game needs to change moving onto hardware that serves as a home console. I'm sure expectations for USUM aren't particularly high anyway, they'd have to flop very hard to actually make anyone at GF nervous. The hardware jump means that even if people feel burnt by the 3DS games the Switch games have the potential to be different enough for people to buy them anyway, the same way Gen 5's disappointing sales numbers didn't correlate with Gen 6.

Not who you were replying too, but I realize I'm part of the problem. I bought ultra Sun and have been playing the shit out of it, even though I played through the entirety of Moon. Even though I disapprove of the way the game was handled, and the larger trend of third versions, I can't help but really enjoy the game and the additions that were made to it. So, I don't regret my purchase. but I will be leaving a negative review once I finish it.

They had to keep the core of the series the same - you don't change a series by completely throwing it out the window. They started by introducing new concepts, but then they couldn't go further.

BW were the first and only games where the game's ending wasn't when the elite four/champion were beaten and the game hands you a legend to fight an opposing trainer's legend.

I'm not actually sure that's true. I'm sure some people are hoping for a huge change. But the way I see it many would just be happy with a little less rail-roading and a little more open-word. Nothing ground-breaking, one would hope.

These couldnt have cost more than like, $200 to make, they basically through in a few extra lines of dialogue and some 3D models that could have been finished in an afternoon. They're garunteed to sell at least a million fucking copies so they are going to profit massively regardless.
