Yes, the trainers get ONE line of new dialogue, but the actual use for it is grinding. Whether for money or for exp, that is the sole use. Even then, it is inneficient, as there is no dedicated post-game trainer spot for exp grinding. I did found a decent place in Island Seven which have one trainer with a Chansey, and 3 other people. But that is just it.
While I would like them to give us the VS Seeker again for just simple rebattling trainers, I feel the actual usage for grinding has been taken over by other features.
