alot of character shit doesnt work and the few romantic implications in USUM are next to nothing and it seems more like shes just our close friend
although there is the post RR cutscene where she says that i'd be great if they could do her island trial together
so it seems like they made Lillie like you because she was leaving so it was implied that you would be together upon her return which happens off screen/when they get older
