Geodude is one of those pokémon that are just so common and unimpressive that people don't bother giving it a proper team slot. I group it together with Zubat and Tentacool.

Geodude is a really good early game pokemon, though. Especially in gen 1 and 2. Hits hard and laughs at the common normal type moves.

I highly rec Zubat and Tentacool. Tentacreul has beastly spec defense and Crobat is just a speed demon

OP here. I've just never found it interesting to use, since it never really caught my attention. I raised a Zubat before, though. Plus the fact I couldn't evolve it to its final stage always bugged me.

How? It's a happiness evolution, and if you get the Zubat early it's likely it'll evolve into Crobat very soon after becoming a Golbat

I have used Tentacool.
For Geodude and Zubat it depends on how you define "use". I have used Geodude for short periods early-game, but always have always dropped it for something else I'd rather train relatively quickly.
I have only ever trained a Golbat for dex completion when I'm done with the story.

oh yeah. both Crobat and Tentacruel have really good defensive utility for in-game.
Tentacruel has all the standard water type pokemon moves; scald, ice beam, surf, etc. Plus it gets shit like toxic spikes and acid spray.
Crobat has THREE quad resistances, on top of roost. Can hit hard with acrobatics and cross-poison

They're very different pokémon. Weird to have them compete for the same spot.
Crobat is great, but Golem is fun too, worst part is the trade criteria, but if you have already decided on Geodude you probably have a reasonable way to evolve it.
