I haven't played a single Pokemon game on the 3DS so i was wondering. Should i buy Ultra Sun for Christmas or should i get a Switch?

The switch game sounds more promising than what we've got. If you've got friends to play it with then go for it, otherwise I'd say wait it out. USUM feels very railroaded and short though it does contain quite a lor of 'mons from previous generations to catch if you're into that.

Depends on what you like/dislike about Pokemon. You won't like it if you would rather the game just fuck off and leave you alone to explore for hours. Personally I don't mind the characters popping up a lot because they aren't as annoying as in XY and I'm having a blast with UM. It's really fun, but it doesn't feel quite like any Pokemon game before it.

I just want a long story, decent difficulty, a place where i can battle after the main story is done and many different Pokemon from all generations.

Pokemon games are only fun when it's a new gen and you play on release. So get a Switch.

You'll probably like it then. It's story-focused, fairly difficult and has a couple battle facilities (not as robust as Battle Frontier but decent) and a pretty good and varied dex.
Most of the complaints are coming from people who think it's too similar to SM (some people do dislike the gen as a whole but that's true of every gen). If you haven't played SM that's not an issue.
