Right before Wattson, no extras to switch in for a 6th.
A little worried but I'll be approaching him when I get home tonight.
And to the creator, I faced that trainer with the growlithe again and all he did was spam agility so I don't know if the issue is resolved or just avoided

I always found Bergmite+Avalugg are surprisingly good for Ice types, you just have to be careful with who you use them against. That Defense stat lets them shut down a host of enemies for no risk.

About the face Totem Lurantis in USUM.

The usual tactic; Intimidate, Glare, Screech with Essence and then into Ben or Marilyn.

Also, been thinking about swapping someone out for Umbreon since an Alolan Raichu would sweep me. I just don't know who. I definitely want to keep Essence around.

But who knows, I might lose someone to Lurantis

Well if I didn't have Araquanid and one full restore to fight this battle I would have been absolutely thrashed by Totemwak and his gf.
First I used bite to bait a detect, as someone told me he's prone to do so but didn't. Called his gf, so I z-moved; Lmao Detect ensues and poison gas combo to cripple water spooder.
Full restore up then almost get a wombo combo of Venoshock and Hex back to back.
Keep tanking hits while widdling Marow with Bubble Beam then swap into Cubone to finish off a red health Lizard
TLD;R I killed and ate a spooky skeleton then boned his gf.

Totem Lurantis was a fucking joke, I accidentally left Manuela in, so had to waste a turn switching into Essence and it didn't matter at all! Glare came through and Lurantis was full para'd twice in a row. So I could screech him easily. Then I switched into Ben, who literally evolved 1 battle prior, and after two Cross Poisons Lurantis was down. Manuela finished Kekleon with a Cross chop and I was done.

Caught Pamela the Steenee on the way out

Second death. Mimikyu was supposed to be easy. Fire punch to break the disguise, signature Z-move and done. But no, it had to tank it and then Banette had to screech my defense. No time for X-item setup, switch to Axel, two good Rock slides should do it, and it did. But Banette just had to curse itself to death. Rock slide even flinched the Jellicent that it called next, but Axel just didn't have enough HP to survive that curse damage. Now I need to figure out who replaces him.

Why should I do, a gen 3 game or a Gen 4? That double Emerald looks interesting, but I don't know. I just finished Fire Red today, using my own "If wiped, lose one month instead of ending the entire run" rule. E4 was a BITCH.

New update: Unnecessary clutter on image Edition.
After this stupid male salandit ruined an option for even a trumbeak to trade for a Arbok instead if needed, I got squat on the route before Mallow.
Started to grind a bit to be on par since Marowak has me on edge about anything now so I gave qt Bubbles a bugbendo in Harambee the Ribombee to see if he'll wipe the floor with the totem.

Well.. It was something. Almost lost Harambee in the battle so I had to have some unwanted sacrifices for the greater good, Grimer was already weak from getting hit by a bunch of moves in a preveious fight against Sudowudo (How also killed Mudsbray with a, and I swear the computer cheats, a wanting to swap into rock throw but lolHammerTime.) Then Flaffy had to take one for the team in the Lurantis fight and same for Grimer it was just.. Not a good time. Kecleon is a fuck that did most the damage and Cubone finished it after bee killed the Mantis.
What do I even replace for my lost comrades? I might need to wait to see what I get from trial area.

I pretty much fudged the rules after my last chance at Remoraid ended up being Wishiwashi. I see it as like a trade evolution where you have to use outside help to evolve it in the first place, so it's fair game, as people use those mons all the time. I too am using Mantine. It's okay, takes Special hits well but the movepool leaves a lot to be desired. Water types got fucked for a change because Scald is no longer in Brooklet Hill.

I've finally played some more today, I always forget how short the section from Route 11 to Tapu Village actually is. Blush Mountain finally allowed Terminal to evolve into Vikavolt. Powerful as fuck, but the Rash nature makes it specially frail like nobody's business.

Caught a Mild Pancham (sucks), Manectric (very rare I actually get a dex expansion mon in this run if I'm honest), Adamant Graveller (with Magnet Pull though, and on Blush Mountain where I could have got a number of interesting mons, a shitty Bruxish, and I finally picked up Hea'hea Beach's catch, Totem sized Salazzle. You can't choose the order to receive them in so I just went for the first one that I don't already have any of, which is Salazzle. Fucking Modest nature as well, get in. Neither Berry Fields or Ula'ula Beach are yielding Crabrawler yet, so I'll just have to keep checking. Not that I really want it that badly but you can't get anything else at these places so I might as well.

Totem Mimikyu's up next, and I'm worried. Will debuff with Stoutland's Intimidate and Baby-Doll Eyes and try not to get crit. Might evolve Grimer as well for the cheese as otherwise I'm probably fucked despite being a bit overlevelled for it.

the thing has 97/97/97 bulk and 167/167 offenses with 129 speed.

it has totem aura on every stat.

it's level 60 which is ahead of level curve and its moveset covers most of the Pokemon, meaning that if you don't have a Steel-type, it will have at least one move to hit you for neutral damage, and a lot of Pokemon for supereffective

I used Reverb to fight his Voltorb, and things were working out fine, I hit him with Pound twice, he hit me with Spark. But on the third and last turn, he whipped out Selfdestruct, which caught me way off guard because trainers don't usually blow up their Pokémon, much less boss Trainers. On the double KO, I sent in Dojobro expecting Magneton, but he sent in Electrike. I went back into Volf to tussle with him because I wanted Dojobro to be healthy for Magneton. When Magneton came in, Dojobro couldn't oneshot it with Vital Throw and almost got oneshot himself by Shock Wave, I had to sacrifice Rip Peep to get Dojobro's health back up to finish the job.
It took me about 10 minutes to beat Manetric, I paralyzed him with Volf's Thunder Wave and slowly whittled him down with Tregal, using Draghound for Intimidate support. Looks like it's time to train up my boxed Magikarp.

Hey guys. I'm starting up another run. Hopefully it will be fun.

Now it may be a mouthful, but essentially it's just going to be a randomized Fire Red run with Trainer Pokemon levels boosted by 50%. In addition, it's going to be a Dicelocke variant. So here are the rules:

>You can only catch the first Pokemon in each route.
>If a Pokemon faints, it is considered dead and must be boxed/released.
>All Pokemon must be nicknamed.
>>For each new Pokemon, you assign that Pokemon a number with a roll of a die. Pokemon with the same number cannot be in the Party at the same time.

I also randomized my rival's starter Pokemon (which sucks because it had to be a Sneasel) which will be with him throughout the playthrough.

I also will be putting my Party Summaries in my template. I usually put some wacky gif in my templates, but I feel like posting summaries will liven up the run. Just click my template and wait between 2-3 for the Summary pages to change, and you'll be able to see my squad. I may still put some wacky gifs from time to time

Hopefully this run will put me back in the mood for nuzzin'.

Pre-Maylene update. Rule for Platinum is that I use a random name generator for nicknames. The first six alphabetically are my team. I've gotten some lucky rolls and some shitty ones. My precious turtle Bronius was dragged to hell by a Drifblim. It got a crit gust and was taken out by bite. Then aftermath kicked in. Couldn't do anything to stop it since I was already locked into bite.
It's an interesting little team. Having two Rock/Steel types for Maylene is scary but I think we'll pull through. I'm hoping something replaces Hardman soon. Bastiodon doesn't learn shit through level-up but I'm afraid that as soon as I use my good TMs he'll be off the team.
Just gotta decide what to evolve Eevee into.

Exp Share has made me a little overlevelled now, but I feel like I need it as I'm running 5 members + Intimidate fodder Gyarados. Every single one of my encounters either shares a type with something on my team or is really frail, or adds weaknesses to my team that I really don't want. I'm just about to go to the Ula'ula Meadow and on the last two encounters for this island I can't really get anything with good synergy with my team. Scraggy is honestly my best bet even though I already have A-Muk, and I already lost Route 16's chance at it, albeit to a Bold Slowpoke, which is cool but not needed.

This shit always happens to me, I lose one key member and can't replace it because I get loads of backups of types I already have. Dark, Flying, and Water comprise most of the first box, I mean god damn. I really should't have let myself lose Stoutland, he was the glue and my fastest mon. Poni better give me something good.

I'm saving Mt Lanakila for last. Gonna try for the 10% Drampa even though I'll probably get Golbat anyway.

Buckets swept the trainers in Roxanne's gym, but I think I'm still too underleveled to take her on. As tempted as I am to just give Buckets my Quick Claw and see if I can sweep her too, I think I'll grind on 116 until Buckets is at Level 16 (and maybe evolve Oneweek).

Well, I defeated Olivia. At the cost of my ace against all past Totems. R.I.P Essence the Arbok, may you rest in piece.

So first off was Essence v. Anorith. Simple Glare+Screech+Crunch and doneso.

Then came Lileep. I used Mimsy's Light Screen, then switched into Essence. Glare+Venoshock, until suddenly Lileep (now boosted twice by Ancient Power and LS had faded) used BRINE on Essence (who had 40/81 hp.) So she died an unworthy death. Garfield avenged her with a Feint Attack.

Now Brionne v. Lycanroc. It went for bit instead of Z-Rock tomb, so Brionne one-shotted it with Bubble Beam

So going to train Xandude for a bit then it's time for Aether stuff.

Lost Zubat to a 5 hit Icicle Spear from a trainer's Shellder. So Xena has been replaced with Pancake the Mudbray for the Fire Trial. And I just learned that a wild level 16 Salazzle knows Dragon Rage, costing me Pedro the Tauros. Damn thing was called in by a male Salandit, during my first encounter in Wela Volcano. On the plus side, I now have a Salazzle. Damn it, I just lost two Pokémon in about 10 minutes. And I was loving Tauros too.

I think I'm going to ban X items in my future runs. Because that was ridiculous. Shahl, Marpi and Penny were the only members who saw any action that elite four, and Shahl swept half of them, including the champion.
Still, US has been fun, can't wait to get around to exploring and getting all my shit transferred up again.
Silver will return eventually, whenever I get around to it. Going to take a break from Nuzlockes for a little while.

Just the focus sash and one charti berry. Used the Los Tiburon for focus sash and endeavor, switched to Tigress because dark type, charti berry to tank power gem, waste its photon geyser, and then I only had to survive 1 hit to finish it off.

Defeated the rival on Rounte 22 no problem.
Made it through Viridian Forest and caught a Luvdisc and rolled 4.
Grinded up to around level 19-20. Brock's Pokemon would be level 21 max.
Got the Boulder Badge easily. Nag the Ekans almost died to his Pelipper

Unfortunately, a trainer on Route 3 had a Wailord that used Whirlpool+Rollout, and Nag was in play. I had already Glared it, and was hoping to ParaFlinch it, but the Rollout accumulated to much damaged and died.

On Route 3, I caught Kudos the Horsea and rolled a 2. I contemplated for a looong while whether to switch Keryx out for a possible Kingdra. (Keryx was putting in the work, plus I liked the Ghost-immunity). I decided to switch, seeing how having a Water-type on the team is more beneficial than 2 Psychic types. You guys tell me if I'm wrong.

Spent $500 on a FUCKING Weedle from the Seller in the PokeCenter before Mt. Moon. Rolled a 5. Biz will be on the team, mainly for Cut+Rock Smash in addition to Bug/Poison moves.

I went ahead and got my Mt. Moon encounter and got Wobbuffet, rolled 6. For now I just put Wobbuffet in the box. I may put it on the squad.

Right now I'm just leveling up Biz and Kudos.

Finally done all the Aether bullshit, takes so much longer than I remember and the story is kind of weird this time round. Managed to have no deaths and Quadraxis finally evolved and is awesome. Also Stealth Rock is a fucking godsend against Guzma. Scrafty's Continental Crush getting a crit on Vikavolt only helped. Decidueye was the only one to not participate against Guzma, while Vikavolt was the only one to not participate against Lusamine. Just landed at Seafolk Village and that's where I've stopped. Team is the same.

Giftmons are fine unless you're specifically using a clause against them. Especially if there's no other encounter in an area. I don't use them most of the time though unless it's like Gen 1 where gifts are like half of the interesting Pokemon.

Platinum is arguably harder than BW2. USUM would be the hardest were it not for you having generally more options about how to tackle stuff. Gen 7 making major bosses have high IVs and EV training helps make them harder.

Alright, time to start over again in Ultra Sun. Last time there was some fagging on my part on Ultra Necro because I was doing a first play and a nuzlocke at the same time. This time, there'll be none of that; if they die, they die. Coming up first is Owliver's dimentional counterpart, Green Owlrow. He's pretty passionate, but not cocky. First update:
So I reached the first Pokemon Center. Decided to use Route 1 and Kukui's Lab as 2 separate encounters.
On Route 1 we walked through the grass left of Iki Town, searching for a Pichu when Babs jumped us. She's quite Naughty and has taken a liking to Green Owlrow. Well that seems familiar... She's been making eyes at him ever since and I can tell it's distracting him, but nothing I can do about it. Near the lab we ran into Toire (let's see who gets the reason for the name), which will be boxed immediately. He's very mellow and all, but I'll be dead before I use a damn Pelipper. He's only coming into the party if I have no other choice.
I also got the event Ruff and am still debating using it, as I did use a Day Doggo on my original Sun playthrough. Either way, that's not happening until Akala. Now we're about to run up to this school and eat some asses.

Post Normal Trial update.
Route 2 had us running into Fattie, which is a pretty good bench warmer to make company to Toire. Fucked with the clock for a chance at Drifloon on the cemitery and I actually got it. (Is that cheating? Only thing it does is save me from waiting until tomorrow to keep playing) Ms. Blimp came down trying to grab my hand and kidnap me, but I'm not like other children and I caught her instead. Her Calm demeanor and over zealous nature made her the team mom, perfect for our little rowdy group.
Didn't have too much trouble with the trial, to my own surprise. Fatline began with a Fake Out, then bit the called Yungoos till it died with flinch hax. Totem forced him to tag out and Babs hit the field, using Baby-Doll Eyes to get past the Scary Face and be able to tank hits and chip it down. A random crit got me scared but nothing too dire. Ms. Blimp switched in on a Tackle and drove it home with Gust.
On the way out Jaws rushed us down; easy capture and another member of the PC family.

Ran into Tinker Bee on Route 3, when her curiousity led her to wander near us. A total cutie (pun intended), Tinky is really sweet and bubbly, making for good company on the road ahead. Ms. Blimp immediately took her under her care, the mother hen in her really showing for the new kid. I accidentaly forgot that I had a catch in Melemele Meadow, so no Pokemon there, oops. Moving inside Seaward Cave, our group found a Psyduck squaring off against some Digletts, so we caught him. Quacko is Brave, but also pretty reckless...
Bulge's doggo got obliterated by Ms. Blimp and we were on our merry way to Hala.
Hala was intimidating, but we knew we could take him on...which is why the sight of Quacko being felled by a single Revenge from Machop shook us so hard. Ms. Blimp immediately jumped forward, her rage at seeing her children hurt sending her into a frenzy. Machop retreated and Crabrawler took the field. Tanking Pursuits, Ms. Blimp's Gusts proved too much for Hala's ace even with a super potion. Makuhita was up next and, while Tinker Bee got a Stun Spore off, she was too frail to stay in. Ready for vengeance, Green Owlrow subbed in and pecked the Makuhita down, thanks to his Sharp Beak. As Machop came back out, Ms. Blimp went on a rampage, giving it no chance. As we mourn our short time with Quacko, we prepare to head into Akala Island and see what it's got in store for us.

There is no game I have more nostalgia for than pokemon Sapphire, but when I played Alpha Sapphire I was underwhelmed. I'm curious if gen 3 lives up to my expectations, or if ORAS was better and I should accept that I've been misled by nostalgia.

A while ago, I blacked out in my first nuzlocke (Heartgold) aganist the Elite Four. Tonight, my Ultra Moon run ended in failure. This is my third nuzlocke. I'm pumped, even though I'll miss the physical/special changes made in gen IV.

Treecko is great because you'll be up to your neck in water types in the last third of the game, and Sceptile can learn Dragon Claw which is good against Drake. However, Treecko and Grovyle are pretty underpowered until level 29, and will need some help to get going. Torchic, on the other hand, is the inverse, and will basically carry you in the early and midgame, but gets less useful towards the late game. It's up to which you feel is more important.
Mudkip is great all around but you'll have enough fucking water types to choose from

Pretty much this. In a Nuzlocke where choices are rather limited for Fire(and to a lesser degree Grass), and you might even have a hard time replacing a fallen mon of that type, Mudkip doesn't shine as much as in a normal run(where it is the best of the bunch), since there are so many Water-types in the game.

Maybe, but sometimes I get the same feeling about games I don't have some ridiculous amount of knowledge about, it's why I often revisit Gens 1-3 so often in nuzgen, it's just something I can walk through without any level of searching for things. That comes with its own fair share of downsides but romhacks that are decent exist so that helps too.

Akala's beginning is a snore fest, holy shit. Got a Gumshoos totem, boxed it, nothing else needs to be said.
Dexio got destroyed by a combo of Tinker Bee's Struggle Bug and Fatline's Bite. Espeon almost killed Tinker, but Fatline came to her rescue, showing off as always. Of the many Pokemon avaliable in Route 4, we ran into a squeaky little Pikipek, whose name we learned was Hot Cannon. She doesn't socialize much yet, but it's more a front than anything.
After a few more battles and a terrifyingly close call where Hot Cannon survived an evil Cutiefly on 1 HP, we reached Paniola Town where Hau was lurking in ambush.
This battle went off without a hitch, except for the Pikachu because Fatline had to stay in, as half our team gets fisted by Electric types. A couple potions were more than enough. Tinky one shotted his Noibat with a crit Fairy Wind and Hot Cannon is still too inexperienced to fight his Eevee, so Ms. Blimp took over.
Still debating using the Carrot Doggo but, for now, we'll rock out like this into Paniola Ranch and Brooklet Hill.

Had to sell almost all of my TMs and stuff I didn't intend to use so I could afford coins for the sake of better TMs, which gives me a fair power boost. Got some Charcoals and Miracle Seed as well.

Gonna challenge Erika as is tonight, kind of upset Nidoking is like 1 or 2 levels too high but if I can avoid using him for the fight, I will.

Geovanni's Dugtrio was going to completely destroy me until I realized its only non-ground attack move was sucker punch and buffed the fuck out of my Mega Pinsir. Not even a Mega Mewtwo can take a Mega Pinsir's +6 X-scissor and live to tell about it.

This was a lot of fun aside from the few times my team got crippled and then it was hours of grinding to fix it.
I think if I ever do USUM again, I am going to trade over/hack in a Lucky egg just for when I need to play catch up with mons from my bench. Exp was never a problem with an active team, but getting those bench mons up to speed was brutal and would result in my old team members ALSO being overleveled.

Interestingly, this team already looks a lot like (what I remember of) the team I used in my first play-through of Emerald, way way back.

Using this template has been a bit rough, and I should probably use something other than photoshop... but I'm getting the hang of it. Next update, I think I'll have added abilities and gender symbols for my party. Anything else that might be worth putting in the template?

Alright, started up a Sacred Gold run, currently about to tackle the first gym (hopefully)

here's hoping I don't fuck it up, Ego will probably be my ace, buffed stats and hp-rock will help immensely as I'm assuming at least one of his 'mons will have a water or grass move to specifically deal with geodude and perhaps even the stray ground move

Just finished the Water Trial.
Paniola Ranch was interesting. As we walked the ups and downs, our party came across a Mareep or, rather, he came across us. A Quiet fellow, he was kinda shy and awkward, but he really wanted to leave the ranch and see the world, so he decided to tag along us. Thoryuu brings a kind of innocence that's refreshing. Up ahead on Route 5 we met edgelord Gladion and his bulky Null almost got us, but some smart switching saved our asses. The bird duo after him throughly pushed our shit in, but no deaths (more luck than anything, really).
After running to the Center with our tails between our legs, we ventured out and found Zappy, the Grubbin. Bold and forward, she just came up to Thoryuu and established her interest in him. His face stayed red for a solid 30 minutes.
Brooklet Hill itself wasn't anything special, with Green Owlrow and Hot Cannon beating down everything that came up to us. The Totem, on the other hand, was another story altogether. Hot Cannon barely got a Pluck off before she had to switch out. Owlrow did his best, switching on a Stun Spore for Masquerain and using some Pecks, but he too was overwhelmed. Babs jumped to save him, using her newly learned Charge Beam, but things looked dire. That's when Fatline pushed her out of the way and shielded us. He looked smug to the end...
After that, Ms. Blimp was able to tank and dish out enough to get us a win. Now who should I add to the team, Thoryuu or Zappy?

If it's not randomized? A metric fuckton of rats and bats (dupes/species clause recommended) and quite a few repeated types. Johto's level curve is pretty forgiving, but Kanto is brutal; prepare to grind.

Yokuzuna joins the team, and he is a monster. We're on the second gym, but this guy is acting like he's ready to take on the champion. I can tell he's going to make an insane addition to our team. He and Majesto seem to get along, so they're training buddies until... Majesto evolves to fight on her own, of least.
Livingston got some good training by wiping the floor with gym trainers, but Kaiser was the true hero here. Brawly got blown the fuck out by gusts.
Obviously Majesto hasn't been helping much yet, but I've also been a bit underwhelmed by Snarls. I hope I'm more impressed when she evolves.

Tried doubles Emerald, but it was a bit too much with everything having five levels on me in addition to decent movesets. Something like Glazed was more to my liking, I never really needed to grind even after losing key members there.

Honestly, my ideal would be increased experience modifier + enforced level caps on each gym. Anything close to that?

You get to use only one Totem, which you can pick at any time from any you have. So if you want Salazzle, for exemple, you need to wait until you get the necessary stickers and then put it on your team. If you decide to use Marowak/Araquanid but you have already received Salazzle you can, as long as haven't put any other totem on your party yet.

Update:

Son of a BITCH, Giovanni had a Beedrill so I tried to Spore it. Hit with a Cross Poison and took Bristle out in one shot. I lost one of my first pokes and I was growing REALLY attached to him. Parasect may not be great but he's definitely earned a place in my special boys club.

Going to enter the Safari zone and these are the rules I'll be using:
1) Allowed 3 encounters
2) Can catch all 3 due to the lack of likelihood to catch any
3) Timing out/Running out of balls means no more catches there ever (even if I didn't use all of my catches)

Caught a Sassy Octillery I named Uruva. She's Moody and has Signal Beam, Surf, Flamethrower, and Ice Beam. Another thing, in this romhack, Octillery is Fire/Water.
