I've read that BW2's story is better apreciated if you beat BW first, what with being sequels and all, but does that mean the main story or also the postgame?

Just the main story, BW has basically zero postgame, which is the main reason people go on about BW2 being so good despite the story being subpar in comparison.

Main Story mostly

There's a feature called Memory Link that looks into your saved data from BW1 that adds in some extra flashbacks, cutscenes, etc that flesh out the story, and leads to 2 exclusive battles, and characters even refer to your BW1 character by name

Entire other half of the region with the Seven Sages subplot and Pokemon from previous gens showing up all strong as fuck

Kinda regret never beating White. I bought them when they first came out, but for some reason I just couldn't get into them. Then I had to go and lose the damn thing. I own, and have beaten Black 2 but I felt like it would have been better if I played the first ones. Also, for the memory link thing am I going to to want to play Black before Black 2 or does it not matter?

yeah, thats the current state of pokemon though.

For its time it had almost no postgame. Just 3 empty towns and a fetchquest.

You should always play the two games of the same color, since they are sequels to the plots of each other and the pokemon you get is the one you didnt get in the other version.

Yeah I suppose that makes sense. Younger me for some reason disliked only having "new" pokemon and I didn't care for the starters at all. Now I look back and see a game I haven't been and I want to play the damn thing. The Gen V Pokemon have really grown on me these last couple of years to be honest. Will probably pick up a copy of black then and give it a go. See the story of N for the first time.
