Poison was applied far too liberally in gen 1, but on Bellsprout it makes literally no sense. Gen 1 has way too many grass/poisons as it is.
>Geodude line: Pure Rock
It's supposed to live in mountains and caves, not underground or in sand.
>Lugia: Water/Flying
Self-explanitory
>Swablu: Pure Flying
There is nothing mundane about it, so being part Normal makes absolutely no sense.
>Pignite and Emboar: Fire/Ground
This way they'd be able to be mud wrestlers, which makes sense since they're pigs.
>Samurott: Water/Fighting
It's a samurai. Why would it not be part fighting?
>Florges: Fairy/Grass
Its body is literally made of flowers.
>Comfey: Fairy/Grass
Might not literally be made of flowers, but still has powers regarding them.

Clowns are supposed to be light-hearted, which is essentially what the Fairy type represents. No clue why they made it ghost.

Bellsprout is a pitcher plant. The poison typing represents the stomach acids which a pitcher plant monster would definitely be throwing around all the time in battle. Pure grass would destroy that important STAB/ lore combo

Another anon already said it but yeah bellsprout line being part poison DOES make sense since their real life plants attract insects with sugary-scented acids. If anything oddish deserves it less, but even then the actual mandrake plant is poisonous. Despite the gen one dex being overfilled with poison types, almost all of them make enough sense to justify the choice. The venusaur line might be the less poison-looking poison type in gen one. Bulbasaur looks nothing like poison at all.

As for your other choices, before someome else tells you the dullahan meme, blacephalon is a ghost type because it sucks life force and clowns are scary fucks. Not that I agree with the type choice tho, although I'd preffer fire/psychic for it, let victini have fire/fairy.

The thing is, you probably don't care about competitive play, but a lot of us do. By giving a mon like Comfey grass/fairy type, it wouldn't improve the mon but it make it so much worse because you just gave it a 4x weakness to poison. In other words, you ain't 'fixing' shit by adding these types.

Grass/Fairy would be nice on Comfey and the Flabebe line so they get a lot more out of flower shield (and I know 4x weaknesses suck, but it's easy enough to add a steel type to your team to get around the poison weakness)

Gumshoos should be a dark type, stakeout and STAB pursuit would be a nice combination

Chesnaught would be 1000% better if it were Grass/Steel

These are probably better for regional variants but:

Arbok I'd give either poison/dragon or poison/dark which gives it a few more resistances to play with and makes it's abilities a lot handier

Weezing Fire/Poison, Levitate mediates the ground damage and it makes it immune to both damaging statuses as well as giving it a way to get through steel types easier

And Scrafty was already unviable in OU, and is still somewhat usable in VGC anyway.

My preferences has nothing to do with making the pokémon more competitively viable, nor making their typings more interesting. Just what I think of when I see and read about them.

The cannons look very metallic to me and fits nicely into the designs theme
>Jigglypuff line Normal/Fairy->Normal
The line is just cute balloons with a song theme, only arguement for them being Fairy is that they're rabbits
>Zubat line Poison/Flying->Dark/Flying
There has never been any mention of them transmitting diseases or doing other poisony stuff. Simply sucking blood feels more like a Dark thing.
Psyduck line Water->Water/Psycic
Probably self-explanatory
Mankey line Fighting->Dark/Fighting
Very aggressive, doesn't specialize in any material arts and does not have the just nature of Fighting type, almost tempted to make them pure Dark
Slowpoke Water/Psychic->Water
Only the evolutions enhanced by Shellder seems to have Psychic powers
>Doduo line Normal/Flying->Normal
A flightless bird is neat, probably just Flying due to it originally being Bird
>Cloyster Water/Ice->Water or Water/Steel
This thing has no ties to Ice whatsoever. Might make it Steel due to the hard shell and the missile like pin, otherwise pure Water.
>Gengar and Mega Gengar Ghost/Poison->Ghost
The previous stages are based on gases, but Gengar is a shadow, no reason for the Poison type to still be there
>Alola Exeggutor Grass/Dragon->Grass
This thing has nothing to do with anything dragon like, only justification I have seen is some links to puns derived from plants that aren't even palms.
Staryu Water->Water/Psychic
No reason why it isn't Psychic from the start, same exact themes as the evolution.
>Porygon line Normal->Electric
I don't see anything Normal about a creature freely being able to surf the internet
>Dratini line Dragon-Dragon/Water
They live in lakes/oceans and Dragonair has strong ties to weather manipulation Water seems fitting

Both the flower theme and the healing aspects seems to be why the Flabébé line is Fairy, both being the main aspects of Meganium too.

There is no reason the Mega is Dragon and not the base, either both or neither. Could make the Mega Electric due to its lightning rod properties.

Most of the reasoning I have seen stems from it's origin, but Peng is a giant bird, or something a flying fish, who's body is mistaken for the sky itself. Nothing dragon-themed, and the sky is the main inspiration, losing Flying is ridiculous.
>Absol Dark->Fairy or Psychic
The thing is only Dark because people see it that way, it doesn't actually possess any of the traits that makes Dark types Dark.

It's body is literally stated to be an ice clad rock.

It has mythical ties to the moon like many other Fairy types, much more so than stuff like Azumarril and Wigglytuff. Not opposed to removed the Psychic type at all. By the way the reason I didn't change Lunatone is because it's moon inspiration isn't mythical in nature.
Shaymin Grass->Grass/Fairy
Again, same reason as Flabébé, flowers and healing.

Change Cursed Body to guarantee the Curse effect on anyone who successfully lands a contact move (without the HP loss for Ninetales)

Barely anything about it is related to the ground, it's just the Gen 1 fetish of making every Rock type also Ground type; plus, it gets rid of 4x weaknesses to Rock and Ground

New ability allows it to get +1 Speed upon every turn of a consecutively executed move (Rollout, Ice Ball, Outrage, etc.)

Return Mr. Mime and Mime Jr. to just Psychic, but add fairy typing to Snubbull and Granbull.

They’re the Fairy Pokémon and should be Fairy/Fairy as such.

Make Sudowoodo a wood type, no reason it’s a Rock type like wtf.

Also make Vanillite and Ite type, it’s literally in the name.
