Gen 8 games titled North and South in 2018.
East and West DLC for North and South in 2019 (they know they can’t get away with the whole 3rd version thing anymore once they’ve moved to Switch so they plan on trialling DLC this Gen).
Eternal Diamond and Infinite Pearl in 2020
Forever Red and Forever Green in 2021 (25th anniversary Gen 1 remakes).

They're not going to start off a new console move with a remake or re-visit, the Switch game is Gen 8, a totally new region with a whole heap more Kanto references. Get use to it.

On that, why is Kanto so popular in the Pokemon world? It literally has nothing world changing about it, nothing exciting, nothing note worthy or big enough to be known around the world but EVERY person in the Pokemon world knows what Kanto is...Why? (Other than GF's boner for it)

There isn’t an in-universe reason, it’s just fanservice. The Kantonian Gym in Malie City has some dialogue suggesting it’s where the League tradition started though.

Nah trials are a thing unique to Alola. It’s possible that the Leagues elsewhere evolved from similar local traditions, but everything in-game suggests trials are a cultural quirk of Alola.

It has the Pokemon world equivalent of Tokyo. So it’s basically like them bringing up Japan. You’d think they’d bring up Unova more though, since it’s the business capital of the world and all.
