For Black Friday this year, should I get a new 3DS or a Switch? I've only played up to Gen 5, would like to play the newer games but only want to purchase one of these.

Play whats there or prep for down the line?

/vp/ is going to tell you the 3DS era of games is Satan in the form of a game and that you're a faggot for buying them but they're all fun. You have a whole other year at least to get a switch so I'd definitely recommend the 3DS.

None of the Pokemon games take advantage of 3D (not that ive seen a game actually pull off 3D well), so you could honestly just get one of the newest 2DS's and those are pretty cheap.

Get a new 3ds or new 2ds, it's cheaper and has a lot of really good games. The switch is a recent console so I'm sure there will be a permanent price drop eventually, on top the price drops in next years' black fridays. And there will be more games available on the switch later, in case the ones available now don't interest you all that much.
