A sandbox style open world pokemon game would be not only very difficult to make fun, but would also have to abandon the current battle system of main series games to not be choppy and interrupt your immersion.

I want to hear valid reasons that people actually want to play this type of game.

Personally, I think the main series games should stick at least loosely to the formula they have now with turn based battles.
