As someone who has always hated GF's strategy of third versions, I think both BW2 and USUM are shitty ripoffs, as are Emerald and Platinum.

I get if people want to say third versions are the best games in "objective" terms, but I've always found it to be a really shitty tactic for them to release essentially the same game a year or two later. Remakes I get slightly less annoyed by because at least in those cases they wait a suitable amount of time before remaking it.

I hate it with sports games, fighting games, and Pokemon. Pokemon seems to get way more people defending it for doing this shit though.

Almost every AAA franchise on console today. The last umpteen FIFA, COD, football manager etc games have all been embarrassingly similar, used the same engines, cost a lot more than a Pokémon title and quite often come with Day 1 DLC and micro transactions.

Ten is hard, but I doubt you could do it with any pokemon game unless you stretched it, but BW2 has PWT, Black Tower or White Tree Hollow, the movie theatre, battle subway with single, double, multi, triple, and rotation.

USUM has battle tree with just singles, multi and doubles, battle factory which honestly sucks since you need friends who also have usum and play battle factory, and rainbow rocket which you can do once.

So bw2 wins.

Sun and Moon? God no. But if you absolutely must play a gen 7 game, get Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. Be warned that the story will interrupt you a considerable amount. If you're able to ignore it, you'll have a nice trip through Alola. There isn't much exploration, but it'll at least be different from Unova. I recommend watching a let's play of it for the first half hour to an hour just to see if you can deal with it.
