Now the 3DS is dead/dying, what's going to happen to the servers? When they go down will it be impossible to transfer mons from Gen III-VII to VIII+?

Pokétransfer does worry me. Eventually we probably won’t be able to transfer stuff from gens 3-5 to newer titles.

Does the Switch have the ability to communicate with 3DSes like the WiiU did? If so, they could easily let you transfer Pokemon to bank like that.

Bank was literally made with new consoles in mind, and was designed so that you could transfer from one system to another without the need of backwards compatible systems.

the 3ds could die tomorrow and ten years from now bank would still be functionally possible on what ever system pokemon is on. all it would take to do so is use of a User ID system and the occasional conversion tool when necessary

It is straightforward to make another frontend for Switch. Nobody here has to worry about anything.

What are you talking about? Official online support for the DS ended and Gen 5 along with it, but Bank still takes Pokemon from Gen 5 games because it's designed to work outside of the systems its released on.

Well like you said, why WOULDN'T it come to Switch? Making the transferring process simpler was the whole damn point of Bank being created at all. It would be mind-bogglingly retarded for them to release a main game on the Switch and not have Bank there too.
