I was so shook when the Gen 6 starters got leaked. They all looked so ugly to me but I got used to them and ended up liking them I guess. Same with the Gen 7 ones.

The only significant complaint there is that the bubbles disappear and the tongue comes out of nowhere, but that's because the preevolition designs are shit. greninja is basically the only well designed pokemon out of all the gen 6 starter lines

I thought all the Gen 7 starters looked too good to be real. Now everyone seems to hate them because “muh fursuit, muh tranny seal”. If Decidueye and Primarina weren’t starters, everyone would love their designs.

Literally the only bad thing about it is how the tongue scarf accentuates how weirdly angular it's head looks with all those triangle shapes. With it's tongue withdrawn it looks fine though.

In other words design means dick, not every pokémon needs to be competitive material but even a shitty design can grow on you if that pokémon is useful in your journey.
