Pokémon Ultra Sun has been one of my most enjoyed in-game Pokémon experiences. Not quite to the point of Gen 5, but not far behind. Even though it's just an expansion, I think the improvements are some of the best we've seen in an expansion. But according to a lot of people, I'm wrong for having fun.

ITT: Things you actually like about US/UM, and Gen 7 as a whole.

I love the totem sticker quest. It gave me motivation to visit every random building looking for them. I just wish there was an NPC who would give you hints about which ones you were missing, to make finding the last few easier.

Yeah I love them, some of them gave too shitty rewards though but I guess the better ones make up for it, like the Ditto one that also gave you nice amount of money. Hoping to see more of that in the next game.

I think USUM disappointing only in that what they added wasn't worth the price tag
But if you bought USUM without buying SM or are a piratefag, I unironically think it's one of the best Pokemon games
I've played since Red, and XY are the only Pokemon games I haven't played just haven't gotten around to it

I agree, and it's a shame that the game is marred because of it
The constant stoppage for dude malasadas and nebby bag really wasn't that bad, but it could have use a skip cutscene option for repeat plays
I feel like they were afraid people would skip cutscenes right from the start, but if they did that's they're own fault if they get lost

The game is honestly alright when the plot's not in your face. The sidequests are nice and some of the money-quests from before also give you items like Choice Specs. I just wish Rotom would fuck off.

Totem powers, makes a boss fight feel more like a boss fight.
The lack of chibi style, just preference.
SOS battles, made wild encounters actually feel new for the first time, horde battles weren't common enough to really be relevant.
Nerfs/buffs that aren't just a difference of 10 in a stat or two. More of the ability changes like Gale Wings, ability swaps like Gengar, and move changes like Dark Void. I'd be all for seeing some uninteresting stuff like Static be replaced on mons.
More interesting abilities like Triage, Merciless, Corrosion etc. and more unique moves like Strength Sap. Like I said, trash like Static getting replaced would be nice.
The lack of HMs, makes teambuilding a lot more fun, especially when you don't like many water/flying mons.
I hear it added a lot of small quests which I'm all for.

It sucks that it introduces so many nice gameplay features (that I hope GF doesn't dump), but the cutscenes and Hawaiian tourist feel turns me off of the game so much I don't even want to play USUM. The single location I remember liking in SM was Olivia's town.

I really don't like how they made the story weaker. Taking focus away from Lillie is fine but it doesn't feel like they put anything in its place, so stuff like going to Exeggutor Island feels completely pointless without the cutscene with Lillie there.

Like seriously, if it wasn't because it's a third version, and as every third version, it reuses pretty much most of the main story, and that SM and USUM are a little too heavy on scripted scenes, everyone would rank this game on the top 3 pokemon games.
On top of things that already have been said like finally removing HMs for a better system and ditching the silly chibi style letting us see our customized character on the overworld better, we finally got back to a fair difficulty, even if you have the exp share on all the time, you're gonna see that the match that matters like battles against totems and the bad guys are at your same level if not higher, and now we have legit boss fights!, and features that people thought would be shit, like the alola photo club, ended up being fun.
If they only added a skip button for the cutscenes and a better battle facility for the post game, this could be a 9/10 game.

You still have to go there for both getting the moon flute and having the final kahuna fight against Hapu, so that place actually got more relevant.
also sorry for the rant, but i'm glad they toned down the waifubaiting, in SM Lillie becomes such a tryhard waifubait right after she changes her outfit, the bridge scene with the murkrows, the scene in exeggutor island and the one at the champion celebration are nothing but shameless waifubaiting and a waste of time, i'm glad they removed most of them.

This. Like I understand the complaint to an extent but it gets massively blown out of proportion.

Like boo hoo you can't blow through the game like a mute autist who only interacts with gym leaders until you beat the game and start breed-sperging as soon as possible.

When you actually experience the game, do quests, and catch explore areas for new pokemon the little cutscenes aren't much or a bother.

I really like that Zorua and Noibat are capturable in the early-game.
I haven't gotten past the 2nd Kahuna, so I have yet to see the rest of the game.
