Is there any straight explanation for this team? Also, how does Magneton fit the gay theme?

Swablu can be found just past Fallarbor Town, a place that Wally never would've been able to make it to before he's cured of his PokeAsthma.
Skitty is found on the other side of Rusturf Tunnel from where his family lives in Verdanturf.
Roselia is found on the route right next to Verdanturf.
Magnemite can only be found in New Mauville, but Wally was probably incentivized into getting one after being bodied by Wattson's own Magneton.
