The little girl in both stories wasn’t a girl it was Zorua.

Dark beats psychic and ghost. Hence why the girl keeps coming back.

This is wrong, since you meet the girl later on during a sidequest and she talks to you, so she's not a Zorua. But it's heavily implied that she's a ghost, so yes, she was probably killed by the Drifloon.
