USUM are fine game. They could've been better, yes, but they're still enjoyable. Just a heads up, there are a bunch of cutscenes.

This is actually true
If USM were just plain old Sun and Moon, these would be looked on as god tier games.

Though, I'm having actual trouble playing it due to the amount of cutscenes and rotom shenanigans.
I've tried to play the story straight forward without detours and it's taken me multiple hours just to reach the first trial...

All the new cutscenes are just the old ones retouched, except for additional cutscenes where the Recon Squad comes in to say like three pointless lines and disappear again.
