No. I like all the little NPC quests and interactions they added but the main story is barely and changed, and the parts they DID change make it worse.

Yes. The fire totem is way harder now, the electric totem is way harder now, the dragon totem isn't a fucking joke anymore, and the fairy totem is also difficult. The climax boss fight is also way harder than jellyfish Lusamine.

Yes.

The NPC quests, Rainbow Rocket, and Guzzlord/Kartana's world. That's pretty much it.

This entire game should've just been Rainbow Rocket and Ultra Megalopolis episode DLC for SM instead of a full game.

People are always pissed anyway. They'd rather use up the last of their unused 3DS assets in the form of a game and still make tons of money regardless of fan backlash rather than mess with the status quo of "no DLC".

If it were literally any other franchise there would be far more controversy about releasing the same game on the same console with some slight added content merely a year later.

GOTY editions just include DLC that's already available for the first game. They don't force people to buy the entire fucking full price game again just for some new content.

Sure, but a big chunk of it is just one time events though, because GameFreak knew we loved all of those from when Mythical Pokemon used to unlock the same thing.

Yes. Not by much, but it is noticeable. Most of your difficulty in Pokemon games is from things that you impose on yourself, anyways.

Yeah, but it has an expanded dex, so you can get different Pokemon this time around, and there are small differences throughout the game.

Different totems, I guess. Other than that, you may as well ask yourself why play Sun over any other game in the series. Also, if you play VGC, you gotta pay for this one to play in it now.

Not really no, aside from Ultra Necrozma I would say it's even easier than SM

There are a lot of new sidequests which is cool, new minigames, new Pokemon. But I feel like a lot of cool things that they did could have been executed better. The entirety of the wormhole stuff is a GREAT concept but super underwhelming execution.

I think the totems are harder. The Necrozma fight is possibly the hardest fight in the series.

Yeah I mean like I said there's some new content so if you want that stuff then get it. The story is slightly different and I doubt you'd want to replay the exact same story.

For a third version, yes, but there's not nearly enough new content to justify the lies they told when they marketed it. They said it was a whole new Alola with a new perspective on the story, neither of which is true.

Yes, some of the totems are harder as well as a few upgrade on the game's bosses.

In a lot of parts it does, and because the original games have poor replay value it feels like a slog in the more cutscene-heavy. Some of the totems are different and most of the trials have new mechanics.

It has a few quality of life improvements like getting your starter earlier, the presence of Zossie if you buy Ultra Sun and the fact that there's something else on the tv other than malasadas. Now it's all malasadas or photo club, so its still complete shit, but it's less shit than in base SM

Anyway, agreed with all you said. Better totems, key characters have pokemon with IVs and EVs now, the 156 or something mini events in the game, that's about it for what's good in USUM
The tv also has a surfing channel btw

Because it wouldn’t work plot wise since most people would have already captured Necrozma by now in SM unless they give an asspull like a second Necrozma or having our Necrozma somehow escaping from us. That’s really the only excuse GF has for this though.

They would make good games if Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon weren't sequels. Otherwise you're more or less paying $40 for three new Ultra Beasts, a Legendary, event-cat and event-dog, and dressing up as Ash, Pikachu, Nurse Joy, and a few others.

It pretty much is, yeah. There's more to the Ultra Dimension, but it's nowhere near being the Kanto of GSC. A mini game with boss rooms, for all intents and purposes.

Move Tutors and shiny hunting Ultra Beasts and previous game's legendaries, but to be honest buying a Power Saves for the 3DS is cheaper than buying a new game if you don't care about doing that kind of thing the right way.

Put it this way, you're paying $40 for Kiloude City in XY. A few new costumes, a couple Pokemon you could have transferred already, and a few more items you don't really need.
