I've spent about 4 hours across three days looking for this damn bug and no luck. What's the most daunting experience you've had looking for a wild Pokemon?

Didn't even bother with any SOS shit, it's way too inconsistent. At least the normal 1% encounters can be cheesed by soft-resetting.

You can just scroll down to 'What Pokemon?' and type the name in manually, you don't even need to have it registered.

Thankfully I had a Volcarona so I just bred it.

Slowpoke in Tohjo Falls. It's supposed to have a 15% encounter rate, and Rattata a 5% one, right? Cue 50 minutes and finding SEVEN of those Rattata before the Slowpoke. It was miserable.

This is why I hate SOS Battles. Also why a Pokémon native of that region is pretty rare? This is something I'll never understand, even fucking Wishiwashi, which is found by fishing, is more common and we know that fishing in Alola is tedious.

Region Mark. XY started it, every Pokémon caught in Gen 6 will have this mark, it's main purpose it to make sure that transfered Pokémon can't participate in VGC and Battle Competitions unless they have this mark. (which I found it unfair because at the end of the day all paticipants are Pokémon)

Gen 6 has a blue pentagon, Gen 7 has that cross, Pokémon transfered from Virtual Console have a Game Boy mark, and Gen 3, 4, and 5 have nothing.

Not in a main Pokemon game but in Pokemon Sage there was a Pokemon I wanted to catch in the forest area after finding one but running out of Pokeballs. It has taken me literally days to find it again

If they have sleep or paralysis they can't call for help. It's not a problem anymore in USUM because I think they can only call for help once unless you use an a-orb.

Just found one Larvesta today. Took me around 30-40 minutes running around, so not really that bad.
So far I had trouble finding Castform in UM, especially since I'm not sure which Pokemon will even call for Castform. And I'm trying to avoid using Sandstorm and Hail since they will hit the Pokemon I SOS hunting with, so I tried with rain dance in the desert and Mt. Lanakila. But most of these mons are so damn annoying. Krokorok with swagger-spam, Dugtrio killing each other with Bulldoze, weather-wars with Sandshrew that have hail, etc.
And yet, not a single Castform popped out even if they call for help in the rain. 10% my ass.
In the end, I gave up and just use GTS for Castform. Fuck this thing. Fuck weather SOS encounter in general.

SOS hunting is way harder, especially with Pokemon that only exist in one random slot.

Want to kill yourself? Go to Kala'e Bay.

Octillery will make you question your sanity since Remoraid does not call for help that often.

Salamence, Komomo-o and the rest of the single slot SOS got nothing on Octillery.

Weather shitters like Castform, Politoed, Gabite and Poliwrath are also on top of the list.

All in all whoever designed SOS battles should be hanged, catching Pokemon shouldn't be time consuming and tedious like that since it becomes monotonous and becomes unfun fast.

Castform is easier to summon via Hail or Sandstorm.

In some areas like jungle areas it shares slots with Goomy and will only have a 1% encounter rate while Goomy gets 9%.

Tapu Village and Mount Lanakila where its snowing often are the best areas to easily get a Castform since summoning rain in Lush Jungle is a timesink as well as trying to find one in the Haina Desert where Gabite is king.

Not in a cannon game, but in Pokemon Uranium I wanted to breed a shiny of my favorite Fakemon from those games. Keep in mind that Uranium has a 1/1024 shiny odds and I had the shiny charm so my odds were a third of that. It took me until about 5 days off of a year to get the fucking thing. It was worth it in the end as you can actually battle other players in Uranium and it had a perfect competitive build but fuck me.

It is found through DPPt chaining, which takes a lot of time, has 45 catch rate and can kill itself.

Jangmo-o, 5% rate took me 45mins.

Politoed was nasty, especially since the first one I found sung the fucking song of its people and I didn't catch it before it fainted. Second took me 2h to find.

Right? Day after day I would spend like one hour or two fishing there until one appeared and I was only like "Finally!".
Nowadays I wouldn't stay there more than 10 minutes.

I recently finished my game of LeafGreen, and I am not sure how you are still sane. It took me around 15 tries to catch a SINGLE Chansey, let alone multiple to get the damn Lucky Egg.

How did you do it efficiently? Just chuck balls at all Chanseys?

It's been a couple of years, but I remember not being able to find any clear strategies on how to use bait/rocks so I just went for Safari Balls on every turn. I'd go to the area where Chansey was most common, run on the spot until I found a Chansey, throw balls at it until it got caught or fled (have a guess which one happened more often), then repeat with more Chansey until I used up my 30 balls. Then I'd check if the Chansey had any Lucky Eggs, and if not, I soft-resetted so that I'd be back in the right area of the Safari Zone with my 30 balls.
Funny thing is, I think I only caught about 9 Chansey across the whole weekend. I really wish they were just in Cerulean Cave like in Gen I.

Beldum is the biggest fucker no question. Tied with most most legendaries for lowest catch rate.
On top of only having Take Down, and even if you do have a Ghost there's only 20 rounds to Struggle.
