GameFreak really went overboard with the cookie-cutter "save the world" story this time that they've rehashed in previous games. They're trying to keep Lusamine's plot, along with Team Skull, Aether and the Ultra Recon Squad intact while removing cutscenes that flesh out the story, and everything just falls apart.
