My team is ~lv56-57 and Ultra Necrozma is one/two-hit KOing all of them. I'm hoping 62-63 should do the trick.

This game gets pretty brutal near the end if you don't have exp share on. RR outleveled me by about 5, that combined with the fact that I like using shitmons wasn't fun.

It may be a cheap tactic, but on the other hand your oponent will overlevel you, has +1 on all stats and has 754 BST so it think it's justified. Also at level 62-63 for Ultra Necrozma you'll be massively overleveled for the rest of the game. Hau's highest leveled pokémon is lv60

That is my fear. I didn't want to level up for this battle just to one-hit KO every battle the rest of the game.
Still, Toxic+healing feels really cheap, but I suppose there's no alternative without causing overleveling.

Just beat mimikyu at Acerola's trial. My team is around lv45.
I don't grind per se, but I do stay at a route until I get all (or most) pokémon available there. I don't run away from battles while doing so, unless I'm bored or if it's a fucking wingull again.

I like to think that's the way pokémon is meant to be played.

You do know that Ultra Warphole pokemon are at level 60, right? You can easily either catch them or grind levels on them if you really want too. If you blackout on Necrozma, you can go back to exploring the ultra warpholes.

If you get your Pokémon max affection from Refresh this fight seems pretty reasonable. Your Pokémon will be about level 55-60 without grinding due to the exp boost and you get the chance to live anything at 1 HP. I did this and two-shot Necrozma with my Dunsparce.

>Turn 1: Tank a hit with Focus Sash, use Endeavour
>Turn 2: Live a hit with Refresh affection, use Body Slam

Would have Sucker Punched it with Decidueye if that had not worked out.

It's not a mistake. The climactic antagonist battle is against one Pokemon instead of a trainer with 4-6 Pokemon, so they need a way to make it challenging enough that facing it with even a team of 6 is still challenging.

Unlike us, kids dont tend to rush to the next objective, they probably explored some of the wormholes in ultra space, or battled some wild pokemon for a while instead of rushing straight at Necrozma (they wouldnt make the whole world go black if they didnt expect you to do other shit before fighting necrozma, its a pointless addition otherwise).

Plus if your using EXP share your team will have been level 60ish by that point, have destroyed DW/DM Necrozma in 1-2 attacks, and be able to easily deal with Ultra Necrozma since at that level you no longer get one-shot and can actually lower its health down a bit with each mon.

It's a shame because I actually enjoyed there being an element of challenge this time around. This is the most difficult pokemon game I've played so far, that's not saying much because pokemon games have always been easy, but it was nice to have to think a little bit in the singleplayer and having enemy AI smart enough to switch out was nice too.

There’s no challenge.

It’s either you have a counter for it or not.

If you don’t have a zorua/zoroark, no bulky steel type, don’t use sash, no battle items, no overleveled mons, or no Amie, your entire team gets outsped and swept.

That being said, there is usually always a way, for me I had to swap between Primarina (when it used dragon pulse) and Beheeyem (the only thing that could survive Photon Geyser) to PP stall that move so that my Sturdy Gigalith could use Toxic (a TM basically every mon can learn)
