There's nothing wrong with the models. The textures/colors and animations could be better, but the models are very good outside of a few weird cases like Haxorus

The models are excellent, it’s the animations they use and the resolution of the 3DS screen that makes them look shit. The reason the game shits the bed when there’s more than two Pokémon onscreen is because they’re so ridiculously high poly the 3DS struggles to render them without slowing to a crawl. Gen 8 being on Switch will make them look a hundred times better purely because of the increased resolution and frame rate. Whether the animations are improved is another story altogether.

GF just need more animators. They’re a ridiculously small company for the size of their franchise and there simply aren’t enough people employed there to put out quality work in today’s development environment anymore. The Pokémon introduced in the 3D gens look great in motion since they were designed with 3D in mind and not designed as a 2D sprite that was later 3D modeled. Older Pokémon have half-assed animations that reek of time constraints because there weren’t enough people to finish the job in time.

Other than the obvious Blastoise/Lugia/Haxorus, name one MODEL that's bad. Protip: You can't, because they're all extremely high quality. Including the aforementioned bad ones. And before you go "hurr durr name bad ones but you can't actually name the bad ones" that's THREE out of 802+forms. If the models are truly bad then surely you can come up with more?

Blastoise, Nidoking, and Nidoqueen look like absolute shit too. I agree that most are fine though. Every flying Pokemon looking like absolute shit thanks to fucking sky battles is awful though.
