>>34318530>Pokémon fans seem to think Pokémon games should be infinite.I did for a good while – I was only bought one or two games a year growing up, so I would squeeze games for every minute they were worth. God knows how many hours in Blue, and Gold, definitely over 100 hours in Colosseum and LeafGreen each, etc.
You eventually come to grips with the fact a satisfying post-game isn't a guarantee, but I think the demand arises because the main games themselves are so unfulfilling, you can't help but think "what? is that it? there's no more?"
The current approach to the post-game is not great. It just throws so many fucking legendaries at you to collect that no single one feels special. The legendary in and of itself isn't so much what's interesting as the setting – trekking to the bottom of the Cerulean Cave to catch Mewtwo is more interesting than just jumping into a wormhole and walking down a hallway to grab it.
/vp/ doesn't like this because they insist on ever-expanding Pokedexes, but GameFreak is not a god-tier company, and there's a definite trade-off for quantity over quality when they accede to that. Is this many fucking Pokemon actually worth it, anymore? Obviously not.
