I haven't fucked with Pokemon since around 2007/2008. What have I missed?

I'm aware of Pokemon Go. I'm curious about everything besides that.

What about new Pokemon generations? Have they turned into Digimon yet? I remember it seemed like that was the direction they were trying to go in.

Regions have left Japan. Gen 5 is in not-NYC, Gen 6 in not-France, and Gen 7 (current) is in not-Hawaii.

Also, in the anime, some French girl crushed hard on Ash and bid him farewell with a kiss on the lips.

Not really.
Some of them are kind of digimonish, but I think they still work.
