smogon sets are pretty tailored to the meta the pokemon is in. They're usually great sets, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't experiment depending on what you're doing with the pokemon.

Shit advise, you should start with smogon sets since they're overall good, and then once you actually understand the meta you can start making your own sets without blundering around like a blind idiot

I showed them my own super versatile Greninja set (Hydro Pump to deal high damage, Surf for accuracy, Scald to inflict burns, and Water Shuriken for priority, with Protean to protect it from Fighting and Fairy attacks) and the sheeple over at Smogon told me it was "redundant" and "not viable."
They're all fucking retarded, that's why I don't listen to them. And I made it all the way up to 1200 with him so who's laughing now?
