I do. I haven't played them all yet though. So far I've finished P3,P4,P5,PQ, SMT4 and SMT4A.
I've also got Lucifers Call (Nocturne for everyone outside of Europe) installed on my ps3, I just haven't got around to playing it yet.

The few SMT threads I've seen on /vp/ doesn't garner that much attention to, say, Digimon. So my answer would be "not much".

Yeah, I think I'm gonna get around to playing it when I break up from Uni. I only really like playing RPG's I have to invest time in when I have a lot of free time. (Pokemon's the exception, because of its more pick up and play nature) My current schedule would only let me play for an hour and a half or so each day, and I'm not into that.

I love SMT, but it's not for the monster collection. More just the general atmosphere. They scratch such a different itch from Pokemon despite their surface monster-battling similarities that I can't properly compare them.

I've only discovered it with SMT IV, and since then played Apocalypse.
Also played P3 FES and doing my first playthrough of SMT Digital Devil Saga on the PS2.

If I can find physical copies of older SMT games for an affordable price, they'll be a buy for sure.
in the meantime, I'm waiting for the fifth installment, and to get either a Cheap Vita to play P4 Golden and/or a PS3 for P5.

You can only equip them to the MC though. The fun of SMT is the demon collecting, the fusion and the party building. Nu-persona is completely devoid of that. (I still like it though)

Fusion is absolutely present and required in new Persona. And though they aren't proper characters to raise, I put as much thought into MC's pool of Personas as I do a team of Pokemon. It's very much involved in party building. If the issue is that you think it's too easy to require fusion and party composition, try P5 on Hard.

I quit Nocturne after 5 hours of grinding was rendered useless when a bondage angel used an instant death move on main character. Had a god damn full party but nope human die game over lol. Fuck that this game is just dark souls in Pokemon format

I play the majority of them even obscure ones like Last Bible but I dislike Persona 3-4,I don't know much about 5 but if they cut the SL bullshit and the can't change your party members Peraonas bullshit then it's better

I tried to get into the series but I couldn't. Ended up beating Devil Surviver and Soul Hackers on easy while dropping SMT4 and Digital Devil Saga half way through. Just not into dungeon crawlers (4's I liked but I could just not tolerate that fucking overworld map)

I like some of the plot concepts though so I watched some Let's Plays.

He wrote the plot sypnosis for SMT4/4A and is credited as a monster design supervisor for Persona 5 IIRC (remember that like Pokemon, Megaten is gonna use those HD models for a long time)

if you want stupidly harder dungeons go for strange journey

if you want more "cool characters" go for devil survivor, persona 3 or 5

if you want just a harder smt in general go for SMT 3 which has dante in it so its obviously the best choice
