I would sooner expect them to think the games weren't flashy enough/were too dark and too hard and that's why they didn't sell, instead of "well, we didn't give them good facilities, lots of new pokemon and good postgame. We also didn't let them explore and skip cutscenes, that must be why they didn't sell well".
Just stop and think for a moment, and let me know if that sounds plausible given the current mindset of GF
