It's the death of Gyms in Pokemon games.

It shows that GF considers Gyms as something "outdated and nostalgic", which may be referenced in such a half-assed way, but not restored to full glory.

That's why Sinnoh remakes better do happen.

Off topic, but does anyone remember playing GSC for the first time, and first going to Kanto and battling Lt Surge? That shit was so cool back then. A whole other region. Before we knew it was watered down, anyway.

I dunno, maybe I'm just really autistic but when I went to Kanto it felt rather, empty back then. I mean the Gym battles were nice and all but for some reason it just didn't have the 'OH HOLY SHIT WE'RE BACK IN KANTO BOYS' effect that it was supposed to elicit to me.

It was still cool, it's way better than Poni Island and some meme tree that's just Battle Tower #6. Why are these Battle Tower clones still a thing? Do Pokemon fans genuinely enjoy fixed RNG bullshit for Game Freak to keep bringing it back? I would honestly rather have Gen 1 tier postgame than see that thing's ugly face again.

It helped that I never played gen 1 and started with Gold

I don't recall that many people actually playing gen 1 games where I lived, it was mainly trading cards and talking about the anime

I recently played through Leaf Green again after several years and honestly, it's trash to me. I mean it's not terrible and has more postgame than anything after Gen V but it still rubs me the wrong way. Something about FRLG and pre Emerald Gen 3 is sickening but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Yeah, no. Battle Tower is shit, period. Battle Frontier has modes that make it a little more interesting than endless battles that penalize you for attempting to grow a streak.

In a time when PK Hex has been available since this Gen's launch day, I've been saving them for Gen 8 when it goes to Switch. If they decide those BP are only compatible with Gens 6-7 then oh well. They were useless anyway.
