Worst defensively is Grass/Ice, 6 2x weaknesses and 1 4x, with only 4 resists. Most of the weaknesses are extremely common as well (Fire, Fighting, Rock etc).

Ground/Fairy or Fairy/Fighting, two extremely good offensive typings put together. Steel/Fairy and Stee/Dragon are also fantastic defensively.

Hands down Bug/Grass, atrocious offensively, even worse defensively. Rock/Ice only horrid defensively.

Raw number of resistances/weaknesses isn't everything, Grass/Ice at least has valuable resistances like water, electric and ground.

Very contextual. Ghost/Fighting is the best possible combo for a sweeper for instance (hence why marshadow is A+ ubers despite mediocre attack for ubers standards and nobulk for ubers standards).

It also has fucking spectral thief, that combined with the perfect coverage that fighting/ghost provides makes it a bit ridiculous for its mythical bst, its ability boosting shadow sneak and stuff like hidden power definitely doesn't hurt

ghost/dark has very few resistances, and neutral hits can be really hard to take because of stuff like z moves, unless your name is toxapex. Also dark and ghost have very little offensive synergy

Steel/Fairy is objectively the best overall.
Rock/Ice is worst defensively and I'd imagine worst offensively is some combination of Normal, Grass, Bug, and Dragon.

Depends on what you want.
Steel/Fairy has the best cumulative defense score (immunities give 0 points, weaknesses give 2 points, etc), shortly followed by Steel/Flying.
Steel/Ghost is the best for immunities, totalling three attacking types, and the Poison statuses.
Ghost/Normal is the best for general lack of weaknesses - one weakness, two resistances, and three immunities.
Ghost/Fighting is the best offensive type for overall neutral coverage, but anything beyond that is heavily meta-dependent.

Ghost/Fighting single handily made Physical Darkrai without SD or DV that princess of the tier with Pdon and Xerneas.
So Ghost/Fight is the best typing and Bug/Grass is the worst.

It's not the best, since the types covers each other's weaknesses. Rock Grass has very few resistances, only resisting normal and electric.
