I love the lore surrounding it, but it's execution isn't that good really.
Outside of the Ultra Recon Squad, it's not really connected to the main story until Lusamine decides to confront it. It feels very tacked on, like the writers didn't bother changing the story to accommodate for it.
And as a result, the climax feels a lot weaker because the crux of the original story was the relationship between you, Lillie, and her fucked family and all of that is mostly pushed to the side to make way for Necrozma.
Which frustrates me because I really love the fact that we finally have a Pokemon as the primary antagonistic force in a mainline game with an interesting lore surrounding it, but it came at the sacrifice to the stuff that made OG SM so good.
That said, I still like it and it's probably my favorite third legendary along with Ray and Giratina.
