Origins was rushed as hell, glanced over most of the plot from the Gen I games, and the battles were utter shit (even worse than the actual anime).

The only real purpose of Origins was as an unconventional advertisement for Mega Charizard X.

Though I will admit, Origins actually had a good dub. Much better than the shitty DuArt/The Pokemon Company International dub. If only the people who worked on Origins worked for the actual anime...

The battles were good though. They felt like actual Pokemon battles instead of "LE TRAINER REACTION, LE STOCK FOOTAGE, LE GLOWY BODY PARTS THAT ALWAYS EXPLODE UPON IMPACT" like the ashnime does every fucking time.

Red vs. Giovanni was shit because Rhyhorn kept spamming Horn Drill AND it defeated a Jolteon with Thunderbolt.

Charizard vs. Blastoise was shit due to type disadvantages and the overpoweredness of moves such as Fire Blast and Mega Punch.

That's not quite true. In Japan it was always billed as a celebration of XY's release and marketing said it was "for both current Pokemon fans and adults that haven't really touched Pokemon since gen 1". The point was to adapt the games these adults knew from their childhood, then introduce something cool from the new and upcoming games in order to make them consider picking the franchise up again.
The entire "it was supposed to be for people that don't care about all these recent additions to the franchise that happened after I stopped playing" shit was just what western genwunners convinced themselves it was.
