I wouldn't say there were excellent games, they were pretty incomplete as a whole but at the time it brought pokemon back into the limelight.

I always hated Diamond and Pearl for doing this, and I loved that it was fixed in Platinum. I also am upset that Gold/Silver did this with pokemon like Slugma and Houndour who you could only catch after the Johto League. I just don't understand why Game Freak does this then tries to fix it in a third version except for that it wants more money by making the third version more interesting.
