I would want an MMO-ish thing where if someone else is playing it locally, you can see them on the map, and make it so if you go up to them, you can challenge to a battle or trade. Or something else where if you don't want 2-player, you can just ignore it.

Maybe like some minigames that people can play with their collection of Pokemon.

I would love a rental battle mode akin to the Stadium games.

Stadium 1 and 2 were definitely some of my most played N64 games with friends because of the rental battles. It was fun to just pick from a list of all of the pokemon and fight with friends.

Rental battle facility. In multiplayer, each player has a joycon. Up to 6 players . There is multiplayer and 1v1,2v2, 3v3 modes. You can either use the pokemon in you box or pick rental pokemon like stadium.
