Desu, I think it started dying after gen 2. 3 was a shitshow, and gen 4 was the desperate flailings of a company who was losing players and just couldn't figure out why.
But 5 was the real nail in the coffin, I think. Not because the games were bad, specifically, but because of how fucking close they came to being perfect, and how GF managed to keep none of what made it good and ALL of what ruined it.
6 was a death rattle, and 7, so far, has felt like fucking Weekend At Bernie's. Please just let it be dead, GameFreak. Please.
