The one in SM definitely shocked me. Malasada boy came prepared to throw down.
The USUM fight is even slightly harder, but at least they let you visit a Pokecenter and save first.

I used a Salazzle in UM and I never even got any use out of Toxic. It's fragile and hard-hitting so it never wants to prolong a fight with status moves and for Steels it has STAB fire anyway. They really gave Corrosion to the wrong Pokemon.

Based on her stat distribution and ability, I feel like Salazzle was designed to counter both Toxapex and Heatran. They're both reliable walls and immune to being poisoned otherwise due to their typing, and Salazzle outspeeds both of them.
Now, if either Salazzle or Toxapex got Skill Swap, they'd be an incredibly dangerous and reliable combo in doubles. Corrosion Toxapex would protect itself and immediately inflict enemies with poison, and Merciless Salazzle would take them out the next turn.

Is it just me, or did the difficulty fly all over the place in US/UM?

First totem really wasn't too hard, Araquanid damn near obliterates 80% of players, particularly those who don't know it's coming. Marrowak is tough, but not that bad, then there's a lull until Guzma's second encounter. Then you get the trainer gauntlets in Aether Paradise and Shady House. After that nonsense the game sits back on its haunches until you are cleansed by the light. Then back to easy with the captains.

Thank god for A. Muk and Mudsdale.

First time I fought Ultra Necrozma, he had a completely clean sweep of my team. He outsped and oneshot everything on my team.

I decided to go the cheap route and use sub-65 Mons transferred over from my old games. Jirachi with Draco Meter (the event one I swear) did wonders.
