I really hope Game Freak buff Arceus if we ever get Gen 4 remakes. The flexibility is nice (especially since it works with Z-Crystals now), but it still feels really off that the progenitor of the Pokemon universe is outdone by Mega Fug.

Necrozma isn't implied to have created an entire universe though. It's even possible that Arceus created Necrozma's place of origin too.

I know they’re not literally direct bible references. I just find the idea of catchable gods to be retarded. Same deal with the weather/life/death ones, those things should not be as insane as they are.

Wasn't it implied somewhere that current Arceus is a shell of his former self, and that all of his "god power juice" was used up making the trios? Maybe Arceus was never a god to begin with, and it's just some kind of avatar of a greater power.

My general view on Arceus and the Creation Trio is that they're all just avatars of universal forces - the bodies that we can see and catch are just fleeting forms they take on to interact with the world in a more direct way, and only hold not even a fraction of the true power of which they represent.

The problem you guys have is that you are thinking of gods from the wrong perspective.

The god Pokemon of the Pokeverse are much more similar to those of greek, roman, norse and especially Shintoism and the like. Gods of those mythologies aren't omnipotent beings. They possess great power, but they aren't the kinds of deities you think of. They can still be killed and the like.

When you think of Pokemon in the way you would those, its easier to accept.

Mega Mewtwo X still falls hard to three forms
Mega Mewtwo Y falls to three forms as well
Groudon-P cries for Mega Fug when hit by Ground
Kyogre-P does the same when hit by Grass or Electric.
Ultra Necrozma is the only real threat but Dark Arceus still wins.
Ice Arceus already makes Mega Fug cry for mommy.
