How would you feel about the following evolution retcons?
>Trade while holding an item becomes level up while holding an item
>Escavalier/Accelgor: Karrablast leveling up while a fainted Shelmet is in the party causes both to evolve
>Espeon: Sun Stone
>Umbreon: Moon Stone
>Leafeon: Leaf Stone
>Glaceon: Ice Stone
>Sylveon: Shiny Stone
>Crabominable: Ice Stone
>Cloyster: Ice Stone (for the sake of logic because it gains the Ice type)
>Level up in a magnetic field: Thunder Stone
>Machamp/Golem: When 1 levels up while in the same party it causes both to evolve
>All other trade evolutions become "use in a battle against another player or any sort of multiplayer feature"
>Alolan Marowak: Either Dusk Stone or Marowak's form is determined by time of day

I like all of them except the evolutionary stone ideas. I was thinking that if you wanted your Pokemon to evolve into a certain type, it should be more like Sylveon where the pokemon needs to be specifically trained to evolve into that typing. If you want your Shellder to evolve into a Cloyster, you need to raise it with Ice type moves. Or maybe new Pokemon designs that respond to how your Pokemon's stats are trained or what type of moves you teach based on physical or special typing. Wurmple is a pretty good example of some interesting evolution variation.

Throwing stones at Pokemon was interesting back in the day. Now its a total fucking chore.
