>>34371660The idea of Lusamine being a self righteous antihero was perfectly fine, given how highly she thinks of herself in both iterations of the game. It's the execution that's the problem.
She has a completely different goal, means to complete her goal and motivation in USUM. Yet they re-used almost all of her big scenes take for take. Yeah, you can justify this if you do some gymnastics but the fact of the matter is they kept this shit the same so they could re-use scenes and animations.
She still acts off kilter and even still rambles about beauty even though her goal is rather sensible. You don't really get a good idea that she is just sacrificing Cosmog for selfish reasons just going off of her dialogue (in fact her desire to protect the Pokemon of Alola seems to be the same genuine desire she employs as the leader of Aether up until that point) so they have to have a bunch of other characters tell you what she is doing is for selfish reasons. Characters you only know about as well as you do Lusamine. Okay fine.
Then her and Guzma fall out of the sky after risking the safety of the universe just so she could get dibs on saving the world. And she's all better. There's no moment where she seems to come to her senses or realize what she was doing was wrong. She's just nice now. Even SM did a better job of this, and she has like ONE single line after coming to her senses.
It feels like the game insists she is an evil bitch right before she heads off to face Necrozma, then insists she's a perfectly fine mother who can be trusted around her daughter she apparently abused in the past moments later.
I think SM did a much better job showing the ups and downs of Lusamine's manic journey into the world of Ultra Beasts. It was more convincing, more natural and had something resembling an conclusion in the main game.
